Loren Carlson honors
Sarah W. Fuller with
2006 "CEO Roundtable
Leadership Award" |
|
CEO Roundtable honored Sarah W. Fuller,
President and
COO of Decision
Resources, Inc.,
on July 12 with
the second
annual "CEO
Roundtable
Leadership
Award."
"The Leadership
Award is given
in recognition
of Sarah's
exemplifying the
power of peer
groups to help
members increase
the value of
their companies
and enrich the
quality of their
lives," Loren G.
Carlson,
Chairman of CEO
Roundtable,
said.
Sarah Fuller is
the president,
chief operating
officer, and
board director
of Decision
Resources Inc.,
one of the
world's leading
research and
advisory firms
focusing on
pharmaceutical
and health care
issues. The
Waltham,
Mass.-based
company is best
known for its
therapeutically
focused analyses
of global
pharmaceutical
and
biotechnology
markets and for
its research on
the U.S. managed
care industry
through its
HealthLeaders-InterStudy
subsidiary. More
than 1,000
clients use
Decision
Resources'
services for
their strategic
planning, market
development,
technology
management,
competitive
intelligence,
and investment
requirements.
Sarah is a very
long-time member
of CEO
Roundtable. In
his remarks
Loren Carlson
stressed that
Sarah is a
leading example
of enlightened
business
leadership. She
has proved that
forgoing short
term personal
financial gain
for other
business values
can increase the
long term
returns for all.
Sarah had
several options
when selling a
majority share
in the company
but she chose
the one that she
believed gave
the company and
the employees
the greatest
chance at
staying focused
on the mission
of providing the
best information
to its
customers.
"Sarah showed us
that you can
have it all --
the resources
for growth and
the freedom to
make the best
long-term
decisions for
everyone," said
Loren.
Several members
of Sarah's
Roundtable peer
group added
their
observations of
why she deserves
the CEO
Roundtable
Leadership
Award, noting
the low employee
turnover, the
strategic
consistency and
the life balance
at Decision
Resources.
Indeed the story
of Sarah Fuller
and Decision
Resources is one
that could
easily have been
included in Bo
Burlingham's
recent book,
Small Giants:
Companies That
Choose to Be
Great Instead of
Big.
Mrs. Fuller's
current
responsibilities
include driving
double-digit
growth in
revenues and
profits for
Decision
Resources, Inc.,
as well as
building new
partnerships
such as their
recent joint
venture with
PharMetrics and
the acquisition
of Millennium
Research Group.
Previously, Mrs.
Fuller was a
vice president
at Arthur D.
Little, Inc., a
consulting firm
with specialties
in many sectors
including
chemical,
pharmaceutical,
and high-tech.
During her 29
years at
Decision
Resources, she
has served 20
years as its
president. In
1990, Sam
Fleming and Mrs.
Fuller led a
buyout of Arthur
D. Little
Decision
Resources from
Arthur D.
Little, Inc.
In 2003,
Castanea
Partners and
Boston Ventures
Limited
Partnership VI
became the
majority
shareholders in
Decision
Resources,
bringing the
added capital
and the
financial and
operating
experience
necessary for
the company to
accelerate its
strategy and
growth. Mrs.
Fuller continues
to serve as its
president, chief
operating
officer, and
board director.
Mrs. Fuller is
on the board of
Cultural
Survival, a
Harvard
University-affiliated
non-profit
organization
that promotes
the vision,
rights and voice
of indigenous
people, and the
Huntsman's
Program at the
University of
Pennsylvania.
She has led
numerous
worldwide
consulting
studies focusing
on management
and strategy
issues within
the
pharmaceutical
industry. Mrs.
Fuller holds a
B.A. from the
University of
Pennsylvania and
an A.M. from
Harvard
University.
Robert M.
Glorioso, a
long-time CEO
Roundtable
member, was the
first recipient
of the CEO
Roundtable
Leadership
Award, given in
recognition of
his outstanding
and illustrious
credentials that
include major
contributions to
computer
hardware and
software
technology
development, and
to honor his
career as a
"serial
entrepreneur." |
